Fisher-Price Moonlight Meadow Cradle ‘n Swing Review

Fisher-Price Moonlight Meadow Cradle ‘n Swing Review

If you have a newborn, or have been around one much, you know that the swing is a baby essential.  While you may be able to skip registering for some of the gadgets and gizmos that cover the walls of baby stores, you will not be able to live without a great swing or seat for baby.  It is a matter of survival for most new parents.

Fisher Price is a well-known and trusted baby and kid brand with tons of great products.  They are known for high quality, reasonably priced toys that are designed with child development in mind.   The brand has stood the test of time because they sell well-made items.  They are also original and innovative in the way they see toys and baby items and are always thinking up new and interesting products that are innovative.

Children and parents alike love the brand’s affordable and cutting edge toys with amazing details, fun music and more.  It is also safe, which is always a top priority for any parent and durable enough to last you through a couple of babies.  If you plan on having more kids, it is always a great idea to get the most important items at a slightly higher price point and keep them in storage in between babies.  A cheaper swing is not going to last as long and, even if it does, the music may not play, or the cover may have become ratty.

But, it’s never easy to make these decisions and takes a ton of research and time.  But, that’s why you’re here – for help.  So, let’s get started, shall we?

Pros and Cons of Fisher-Price Moonlight Meadow Cradle ‘n Swing

  1. The two motions make this a customizable swing that will be awesome if one of your kiddos loves to swing one way, and another a totally opposite.
    1. There are other customizable features that let you choose and combine to create a product suited to that particularly kid.
    1. It’s easy to put together, with two handy power options: 120-volt AC adapter, or 4 D batteries.  Convenience and ease at its best.
    1.  Fisher Price’s innovative SmartSwing Technology offers 6 separate undulation speeds so you can find the ideal pace and movement in order to entertain, or calm your baby. Though a lot people focus on how much a swing can calm a crying infant, and send it off to dreamland, other people find that their babies simply enjoy spending time in the swing.   They can sit up enough to see what is going on and the pleasant motion and music create a serene little spot for your child. Just as adults enjoy having spaces that are relaxing, so do little ones, even if they are not crying or unhappy.  The motorized mobile comes with 16 songs, some soothing nature sounds and 3 plush toys.  As these toys move overhead, they promote eye-tracking and keep the infant entertained.
    1. You can set the swing to move side to side or head-to-toe and the switch is easy pushing a button and turning the seat.
    1. Believe it or not, this product can sense the baby’s weight.   As any parent knows, as babies get bigger, some swings start to slow down as they attempt to carry the larger load.  But, this swing simply adjusts its pace to the baby.  How cool is that?
    1. The deep, warm Papasan-style seat has machine-washable padded seat cover which will be comfortable, and also easily washable.  The first is for baby, the latter is for mama. It has also has a mirrored globe and linkable rattle toy.

  1. Some consumers have complained that the swing makes a grinding noise that can be very irritating.  But, this is probably one of the worst complaints about the swing.  It is not often mentioned as most people enjoy the swing a great deal.  Sometimes, the noise may be attributed to improperly putting the product together or setting it on an uneven ground.
  2. Others might wish that the music cycle lasted longer as it is only about 15 – 20 minutes and some babies really love the music. This can be particularly stressful for parents during naps or at nighttime when the baby is sleeping and they have to jump up to keep that music going.  However, not all babies need music the entire time that they sleep (many bedtime toys only play music for just a little while) and letting it run indefinitely is not great for the machine.

FAQs about Fisher-Price Moonlight Meadow Cradle ‘n Swing

  1. Is it easy to set up? Are there a ton of parts?

They are a only a few very simple parts that are very lightweight and the assembly is very easy. Quick tip: get it set up before the baby comes.  It will only take a few minutes and when baby comes home you may find that the swing is an instant favorite – most parents do!

  • Will my baby be secure in it? Could they fall out?

Yes. Your baby will be very safe and secure.  Fisher-Price makes some of the highest quality kid and baby products out there and they certainly don’t skimp on safety.   The five point harness will keep baby safe as can be.

  • Are the sounds and music loud or disruptive?

As mentioned, some people find that the swing is noisy.  They do not like it.  But, swings will make a slight noise.  However, it is usually subtle and rhythmic and not terribly distracting.

  • How early can I put my baby in this swing?

The day that they come home.  Small babies may need blankets around their heads or a little extra support until they grow into it a bit.  But, if you have a large infant you may not have to fret about it at all.

  • What do I do if I am not near an electrical outlet?

Use D batteries!  That’s the great thing about a swing with dual power options!

  • Can my swing go outside?

Yes, if the weather conditions are suitable.  The double power source options make it very adaptable.  Plus, it is super portable.

  • Can the baby sleep in it overnight?

This is not suggested.   Parents, from time to time, have can allow short naps in the swing. That is generally considered OK by doctors. But, an infant should always go to bed in a crib at night –  in order to prevent SIDS.

  • When will my baby grow out of it?

As your baby gets older and matures both physically and mentally, it will gain muscle strength,  and will become more energetic and may perhaps like the swing once in a while, but like a seat or comforter on the ground more.  10 months is right around the  time that most babies lose interest in the swing.

It is neither super cheap, nor super expensive and t looks great and is comfortable for baby.  It has plenty of options so that you can find just the right setting for your baby.   So, if you are looking for a swing that will last a while, then  this just might be a great deal.
